Hours Are Not Created Equal

Mar 26, 2025

Not every hour is created equal. Given a task of fixed scope, it might take you one hour or four—depending solely on the intensity you bring to it.

Extend this idea to your daily life, and you'll see that what you accomplish depends largely on how intensely you use your fixed number of hours each day.

In today's world, constant distractions have become the norm. The subconscious urge to check your phone or emails, along with other dopamine-inducing habits, undermines the intensity of your time. These habits train your nervous system to operate at a lower level of focus.

Since this state is now common, reclaiming control of your hours is extraordinarily challenging. It demands significant self-discipline and the ability to overcome ingrained behaviors. This challenge isn’t solved by intellectual effort alone; it calls for an informed recalibration of your nervous system and bodily sensations.

If you want to accomplish more, begin by assessing how you spend your hours. Consider the intensity of your effort, and ask yourself: Are you using your full potential? Which subconscious behaviors hold you back? Then, work on recalibrating your body and mind. Remember, intensity matters.
